Study of aerodynamic flows (Soufflerie)
Platform
The laboratory wind tunnel is used for fundamental research mainly focusing on the characterization and control of runoff, but also for research applied to the aerodynamics of land transport, This includes reducing fuel consumption and reducing particulate emissions associated with braking.
The wind tunnel has been awarded the label "Centre de Ressources et d'Expertise Scientifique et Technologique" (CREST) by the Regional Platform for Innovation and Exploitation of Research.
The platform is part of the Hauts-de-France regional platform “CONTRAERO” (a regional wind tunnel structuring group, LML & ONERA), which was the subject of a framework agreement with DR18 CNRS signed in 2016, and a inauguration in September 2017.
It has the particularity of having a relatively long vein of tests allowing to characterize the flow around geometries of very elongated dimension (railway domain).
This wind tunnel platform of CONTRAERO and PEGASE continues its development through the RITMEA project co-funded by the State, the Hauts-de-France region and the ERDF Fund 2021 - 2027.
