The movement of a person with reduced mobility (PRM) in a wheelchair appears highly dependent on the environment. The urban context is often poorly or poorly adapted to this type of population, with characteristics often defined in a generic way, while disabilities can be very varied.
A research tool such as PSCHITT-PMR can, for example, evaluate the impact of an infrastructure on a movement, quantify the difficulty of locomotion of the person in the wheelchair in this environment or prototype and evaluate mobility assistance systems.
On the technical level, this immersive platform is composed of a roller bench reproducing the real movement and an instrumented wheelchair onboard a dynamic platform with 6 d.d.l. Visual and sound immersion is ensured via an embedded video rendering system (180° horizontal and 60° vertical displays) and multi-channel audio.
The simulation of the environment is performed via the SCANeR Studio tool developed by AVSimulation.
This equipment is part of the regional platform PMR-Lab of CPER RITMEA.
