The Computer Science Research Centre of Lens (CRIL) is a joint research unit between the University of Artois and the CNRS, whose unifying research theme has been around artificial intelligence and its applications for more than 25 years.
The CRIL now has more than 60 members: researchers, research teachers, PhD students and administrative and technical staff.
It is located on two sites in Lens: the Jean Perrin Faculty of Science and the IUT.
CRIL is a laboratory of excellence in AI marked by a strong internationalization, which translates into a wide variety of nationalities among its members (more than ten nationalities), by its participation in various international projects (ongoing: European project H2020 TAILOR, framework agreement with the National Institute of Informatics (NII), Japan, co-piloting an international laboratory associated with the University of California at Los Angeles, USA, etc.) and by a high number of co-publications with colleagues from laboratories located abroad.
Since its creation, the CRIL has developed various collaborations with institutional or industrial partners, especially large groups. He is currently researching the prediction and optimization of airport resources (with Aéroports-de-Paris) and is involved in the national programme on the design of critical AI-based systems, which are verifiable and explainable.
